Turkish furniture exports grew by 22.6 percent during the first 9 months of this year, bringing in revenues of $6.2 billion.

According to data from the Istanbul Furniture and Paper Products Exporters Union, the sector’s exports hit a record high during the period between January and September 2022.

Iraq topped the list of countries importing Turkish furniture during the mentioned period, with $380.2 million, followed by Germany with $304.4 million, and Israel with $191.2 million.

In a related context, the State of Qatar topped the list of countries that recorded the largest growth in furniture imports from Turkey, as it imported furniture worth $150.6 million, an increase of 90 percent compared to the first 9 months of last year.

During the first 8 months of this year 2022, Turkey set a record in ready-to-wear exports, with a total of 14 billion and 248 million dollars.

The data of the Turkish Exporters Council showed on Wednesday that the percentage of exports of ready-made garments during the period from January to the end of last August increased by 10.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

The data indicated that the value of the sector’s exports during last August alone amounted to one billion and 842 million dollars.

Germany ranked first among the countries importing Turkish clothes last August with 314 million dollars, followed by Spain with 256 million and Britain third with 181 million dollars.

During the first eight months, the countries of the European Union occupied the list of countries that imported the most products of the Turkish ready-made garments sector with a value of 8.8 billion dollars, followed by the rest of the European countries with 1.8 billion and the countries of the Middle East third with one billion dollars.

Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Muş announced a 15.2 percent increase in his country’s exports last May, compared to the same month last year.

This came in a press conference held with the Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Council in Ankara on Thursday to announce the foreign trade figures for May 2022.

Minister Muş said that Turkey’s total export earnings last May amounted to $19 billion.

He continued, “Our exports recorded the highest monthly figure ever in May, with an increase of 15.2 percent compared to the same month in 2021, and amounted to $19 billion.”

He stressed that according to this, Turkish exports have continuously broken records throughout the first 5 months of this year by achieving a record value at the monthly level.

Muş stated that the volume of Turkish foreign trade increased last May by 31.1 percent to reach $48.6 billion.

In terms of imports, the Turkish Minister of Trade said that they amounted to $29.6 billion during the past month.

He pointed out that energy products accounted for a large part of last May’s imports, amounting to $6.9 billion.

He pointed out that Turkish export revenues rose to 242.6 billion dollars during the last 12 months.

And he stressed their continued pursuit of the goal set by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to gain $250 billion in exports by the end of 2022.
