On Monday, Azerbaijan announced joint military maneuvers with Turkey in the provinces of Baku, Astara, Gabriel and Imishli in Azerbaijan.

According to a statement issued by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, the maneuvers between the Turkish and Azerbaijani armies are taking place within the framework of the military cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Land, air and special forces are participating in the maneuvers, in addition to engineering units, artillery and missile units.

The statement indicated that the maneuvers are witnessing the implementation of tasks such as organizing coordination activities for the various units, installing pontoon bridges to cross rivers, and rehearsing landing operations in enemy areas.

The joint maneuvers aim to ensure coordination of the forces during the war, improve their management, exchange experiences and increase the efficiency of personnel.​​​​​​​

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday congratulated Azerbaijan on the 104th anniversary of the liberation of the capital, Baku, from the Bolshevik occupation.

“I congratulate the anniversary of the liberation of Baku, the capital of friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan and an integral part of us,” Erdogan said in a post on social media.

“As before, we will continue to stand by our Azerbaijani brothers in their just struggle,” he added.

Nuri Pasha led the Islamic Caucasus Army, which he and his brother Enver Pasha, the Ottoman Minister of War, founded in order to liberate the Caucasus from the Bolshevik occupation at the request of the Muslims of Azerbaijan and Dagestan in 1918.

The Muslims of Azerbaijan and Dagestan provided great support to the army during its entry into the South Caucasus and took the initiative on a large scale to join in order to fight in its ranks against the Bolshevik forces and the Armenian gangs.

The army was able to impose its control on important cities and strategic areas such as Ganja, Koigay, Salian, Aksu, Kurdemir and Shamakhi, after imposing its control over Baku after fierce fighting.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop visited the cemetery of martyrs in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on Tuesday.

This came within the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Third General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Şentop laid a wreath at the tomb of the Azerbaijani leader Heydar Aliyev.

Şentop also laid a wreath at the memorial inside the cemetery of martyrs in Baku.

Later, Şentop visited the cemetery of Turkish martyrs in Baku and wrote a note on the guest book after laying a wreath.
