The European Union on Wednesday imposed additional rules on 6 technology giants, including Meta, Apple and Microsoft, to prevent them from abusing their dominant position in the digital market.

The Union’s executive body announced in a statement that it classified Alphabet, Amazon, ByteDance, Meta, and Microsoft as “gatekeepers” under the European bloc’s new digital services law.

It explained that the EU could appoint technology companies as “gatekeepers” if they “provide an important gateway between businesses and consumers regarding the platform’s core services.”

In other words, the gatekeepers are the digital giants such as search engines, social networks, and cloud services, which are impossible to avoid when using the Internet.

Following the Union’s regulation that entered into force last August, the new decision imposes additional obligations on technology companies to prevent them from applying “unfair conditions to companies and end users and to ensure the openness of important digital services.”

Under the decision, “companies now have 6 months to implement the list of obligations and restrictions” drawn up by the European Union Commission.

If companies fail to comply with the new rules, “the European Union could impose a penalty of up to 10 percent of their annual revenue, which could be doubled if they repeat the violation.”

At the same time, the European Commission is now examining the appeal of Microsoft and Apple, which have claimed that some of their services such as Bing, Edge, Microsoft Advertising as well as iMessage do not qualify as “gatekeepers”.

The technical director of the Turkish “Baykar” company specialized in defense industries, “Seljuk Bayraktar” achieved wide international fame through his achievements in the field of defense industries, and therefore he became an example to be followed by creative youth who are working on developing technological programs in the manufacture of drones.

In this regard, a team of creative young Turks who designed a march in the Turkish city of “Bile Cic” seeks to present the technological programs they developed to “Seljuk Bayraktar”, from whom they took an example to follow in developing their project.

For his part, the leader of the youth team, “Yassin Yasa,” explained that he and his fellow youth were inspired by the successes achieved by “Seljuk Bayraktar” in the field of making drones, which have proven their worth in a number of war-ridden areas. Yasa said:

“We constantly watch the video that Selcuk Bayraktar published in 2005, where he showed the first launch of the march he designed. All of us in our research team have taken Selcuk Bayraktar as an example to follow in all our projects and technological programs.”

Yassa also explained that his team would like to present the technological programs it developed to Baykar, adding:

“Our goal is to present the technological programs that we have developed to Baykar, a leading company in the field of defense industries, and we want Turkey to become one of the most important countries in the world in the field of defense industries.”

It is worth noting that the Chinese writer “Song Yichang” had described “Seljuk Bayraktar” as a genius of drones and said:

It was stated in the statement that owners of iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 can purchase the most important spare parts.

Such as the battery, screen, and camera module directly from Apple, and they can replace it themselves with tools provided by the company.

Sales of self-repair parts to US users will begin early next year and will expand to other countries in 2022.

Users will also be able to purchase spare parts for Mac computers with the M1 chip at a later date.

Apple is expected to provide more than 200 parts and tools for the most common repairs.

Previously, Apple only provided access to original parts to nearly 5,000 authorized service providers and 2,800 independent repair service providers.

Notably, Apple offered an option for those wanting to make their own repairs after consumer advocates demanded the “right to repair” to extend the life of smartphones by several years.

On the other hand, new hardware fixes with more features become more complex.

Apple said the self-repair is aimed at “tech-savvy people with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices.”

It was learned that Apple threatened to remove its products from the App Store after it was revealed that “commerce for services” is conducted through Instagram and similar apps.

And Facebook’s internal reports, published by the (WSJ) newspaper, revealed that Facebook received a warning from Apple to remove it from the App Store.

Apple and Google took action after the news broke, while it was learned that Apple wanted app developers to “take corrective action immediately”.

According to internal reports, Facebook was said to have been aware of the issue before the BBC reported it and investigated it.

But she confirmed that after the news was published, he removed the mentions and closed the relevant accounts.

The BBC Arabic report revealed that in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, domestic servants were bought and sold through applications, including Instagram, and were held against their will behind closed doors, deprived of all rights.

After Wallstreet began publishing Facebook’s internal reporting, Facebook continued to be the target of harsh criticism in the United States.

“The app is all wrong in America,” said tech billionaire Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce and owner of Time magazine.

“Look at how Facebook is affecting the world,” Benioff told CNN in news about Facebook.

From political processes to the climate crisis to the pandemic, the problems are rooted in insecurity, and that sense of insecurity is being created by social media companies.”

Benioff has also criticized Facebook before, stating that the empire of Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg, which is worth close to $1 trillion, should be divided.

The European Union Commission has proposed legislation to make it mandatory to use a common charging port for electronic devices.

Like smartphones, tablets, and headphones sold in the EU, the introduction of new charging will particularly affect companies like Apple.

The European Union (EU) Commission has prepared a legislative proposal to standardize different charging ports such as USB-C, Micro USB, and Lightning for various electronic devices.

Accordingly, all phones, tablets, and headphones sold in the European Union will need a common charging port.

Manufacturers will also have to put a USB-C charging port on electronic devices, and in addition, fast charging technologies for devices will be coordinated.

A new charger will not be provided with each newly purchased device, but chargers for electronic devices will be sold separately.

The relevant regulation will cover devices such as smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, portable speakers, and portable game consoles.

The proposal aims to prevent consumers from carrying a large number of cables and chargers and to be able to use a single charger for various electronic products.

The regulation, which also aims to reduce damage to the environment and waste, must be approved by the European Parliament (EP) and the European Council for it to come into force.

After these approvals, a transition period of 24 months is expected, followed by the imposition of standard fees.

Currently, most Android devices charge via the USB-C port, and new laptops with headphones and many other accessories use the same socket.

This regulation is expected to affect Apple in particular.

Apple uses a different input called lightning on its smartphones, tablets, and headphones.

But the company prefers to insert USB-C into new iPads and laptops.

Apple claims that standardized entry will hurt innovation, increase e-waste, and upset the consumer.

The Apple store in Istanbul is an integral masterpiece of art and creativity with its simple and charming designs at the same time that Apple is distinguished by.

Apple stores have always been distinguished by simple designs that give the customer a sense of luxury, as the design of this store was chosen as the best structural engineering design by the Civil Engineers community, where the Apple store in Istanbul won the highest prize at the 2014 awards ceremony for architecture.

According to the organizers of the competition, the Apple Store Zorlu Center was named the Best retail store structure in 2014, which is also called the best successful example of engineering design.

The design of the Apple store in Istanbul

The store was designed and built by the famous British architect Norman Foster. (Foster Group), in cooperation with Eckersley O’Callaghan’s engineering team.

At first glance, this store will make everything very simple. But there are many subtle details in the work that are not dazzling.

These designs were created according to Apple’s design policy and guidelines, which are evident in all of the company’s stores around the world.

The store is a glass cube that protrudes in the middle of the mall, its sides are made of glass, to make the most of the natural sunlight in the shopping center.

The store consists of two floors, and at the top there is a glass void through which you can see the inscription of the Apple logo on the store ceiling, which can be clearly seen from the buildings surrounding the Zorlu Center, and one of the most prominent features of the interior design of Apple is the flawless and excellent finishing.

It is worth noting that the glass in the storefront of the two-storey store is a one-piece glass, about 7 meters high, which is very special. Because glass in these dimensions is extremely rare and difficult to transport and manufacture.

The stairs were also created from a very thick laminated glass, which gives this Apple store in Istanbul a distinct identity differentiating it from other famous company stores around the world.

The store opened in 2014 in the presence of Steve Cano, director of Apple’s retail store at the time, and the store won two prestigious awards: “The Best Balance for Structural Engineering Award” and the “Best Store Design Award” at the 2014 Awards.
