Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır opened the 16th ANKIROS International Iron, Steel, Casting, Non-Ferrous Metal Technologies, Machinery and Specialized Products Exhibition.
Minister Kacır drew attention to the production and export records, and emphasized that Turkey ranks third in Europe in automobile production on the successes achieved in the iron and steel sector.
Kacır pointed out that they found it very beneficial for the iron, steel and casting sectors in Turkey and more than 1,100 participating domestic and foreign companies to come together under one roof, and Kacir pointed out the following:
“Our metal industry, which provides inputs to many sectors in a wide range from automotive to construction, from chemistry to machinery production, from energy to railway systems, is among the sectors that embrace and symbolize our vision of ‘Strong Industry, Strong Turkey’ at the highest level.”

Minister Kacır, who emphasized Turkey’s success in the iron and steel sector, continued: “With an annual production capacity of 60 million tons, our Turkish iron and steel sector has an important position in the world today in terms of production volume, production quantity and product quality. We are the second largest steel producer in Europe and the eighth largest steel producer in the world. In the first seven months of this year, when the world’s crude steel production decreased by 0.7 percent, we recorded a 14.9 percent increase in production. Another pride that makes us proud in the metal industry is our casting sector. The casting sector, which exceeds world standards in terms of production technology and quality, provides products for many fields such as automotive, white goods, machinery, agriculture and construction, while also providing employment for 70 thousand citizens.
Emphasizing the record figures in production and exports, Minister Kacır said: “We in Turkey are the second largest casting producer in Europe and the seventh largest producer in the world in the casting industry. The fact that the casting sector, so to speak, takes on the responsibility of high-level precision castings, engineering works and works that require research and development is a separate source of pride for us, and I also appreciate and congratulate the valuable representatives of our metal casting sector, which is among our leading sectors in development with an export of more than $7 billion, for their efforts.”
