Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday that Turkey now ranks first in Europe in agricultural production.
He made the remarks during a Ramadan iftar banquet he hosted for farmers at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.
President Erdoğan expressed his hope that fasting and praying during the month of Ramadan would be a means of uniting Muslims and liberating them from oppression. He noted that Turkey produces 206 types of agricultural crops, most of which are self-sufficient.
Erdoğan stated that Turkey ranks fourth in the world in fruit and vegetable production. He noted that Turkey ranks ninth in the world and third in Europe in milk production, and seventh in the world and first in Europe in beef production.
He added that Turkey ranks ninth in the world and second in Europe in chicken meat production, and tenth in the world and second in Europe in egg production.
He noted Turkey’s leadership in Europe and its ranking second globally in honey production, in addition to its ranking 16th globally and second in Europe in aquaculture. He continued: “Türkiye is now first in Europe and eighth globally in agricultural production.”
