Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the country’s exports in the last 12 months until October amounted to $254.8 billion.

This came in a speech on Friday at the “Innovalig Champions” awards ceremony (a program for developing innovation in Turkey) at the Gulf Convention Center in Istanbul.

President Erdogan expressed their pride in all the companies that contribute to production, employment and export in Turkey, especially the champions of “Innovalig”.

He pointed out that the regular increase in the number of companies applying to the Innovation Development Program every year shows that the culture of innovation is beginning to take root in the business world.

President Erdogan pointed out that Turkey’s annual exports were only $36.1 billion in the year the Justice and Development Party came to power (2002).

He noted that the value of exports amounted to 254.2 billion dollars in the last 12 months, and with this rate of increase, Turkey became third among the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in terms of the speed of increasing exports.

He pointed out that despite all the difficulties and problems at the global level, Turkey’s exports continue their upward trend.

He pointed out that exports set a new record last October, increasing by 7.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reaching $22.9 billion.

He added, “Thus, we were pleased to reach the highest export value in the month of October. Thus, our exports in the last 12 months until October amounted to 254.8 billion dollars.”

President Erdogan stressed that increasing exports in terms of numbers is certainly important, but during the coming period the focus must be on increasing quality as well.

He noted that they want to achieve successes in the fields of missiles, ships, armored vehicles, cameras, air defense systems, and electronic warfare, similar to the country’s successes in the field of drones.
