The Swiss newspaper Blick praised the characteristics of the Turkish electric car “TOGG” and described it as “the Turkish Tesla.”

The only nationally published newspaper in Switzerland said in a report prepared by journalist Wolfgang Gomol that the T10X TOGG car has become a Turkish landmark.

“The electric car impresses with its digital ecosystem, where AI can create radio playlists,” the report said. “But its driving and charging performance are also impressive, as our test drive showed.”

The report pointed out that TOGG was established in 2018 and that it survived the Corona pandemic period without any harm, and stressed that Turkey had made significant investments to develop this brand.

The report included praise for the TOGG car, describing it as “the Turkish Tesla.”

It pointed out that it has a large screen in the cockpit, and its own operating system has been developed, including an application store.

In addition to the praised driving characteristics, the report pointed out that the TOGG’s range reaches 468 km.

The report pointed out that when it comes to recharging, the TOGG can easily keep up with competitors such as “Skoda Eniac” or “Tesla” and in some cases even surpass them.

It stated that the TOGG (T10X) cars are expected to arrive in Germany at the end of the year, but the date of their arrival in Switzerland is unclear.

It also pointed out that it is expected that one million TOGG cars will be on European roads by 2032.

The Turkish authorities imposed on nationals of 10 countries to obtain an electronic visa to transit airports during their destination to Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela from Istanbul International Airport.

Turkey is considered a transit country to final destinations, and is among the most active countries in combating irregular migration, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.

The Turkish authorities intensified inspections within the framework of international aviation rules due to the increase in the number of migrants heading to North America via Central and Latin American countries, taking advantage of air transportation offers via Istanbul, according to the same sources.

Last March, Turkish Airlines warned travelers to Latin American countries that “some additional controls may be applied in addition to the general rules.”

In this context, Turkish diplomatic sources reported that the Turkish Foreign Ministry has completed the necessary preparations to launch the electronic airport transit (transit) visa.

The transit visa was included in Chapter 24 of Justice, Freedom and Security in the negotiations to join the European Union, and it constitutes one of the criteria within the scope of the negotiations to liberalize entry visas for Turks to the European Union countries.

The sources confirmed that Turkey imposed on citizens of India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Chad, Somalia, Cameroon, Mauritania and Yemen heading to Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela via Istanbul Airport the requirement to obtain a transit visa, as of April 15.

The electronic transit visa can be obtained free of charge online from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ “evisa.gov.tr” portal starting April 15, 2024.

Travelers must enter their personal information, residence address information and ticket numbers correctly when obtaining the e-visa.

Transit passengers at Istanbul Airport must also carry a printed copy of their transit visas.

Mrs. Emine Erdogan, wife of the Turkish President, celebrated “World Zero Waste Day” on Saturday.

Through her account on the “X” platform, the First Lady published a video message on the occasion of World Zero Waste Day, corresponding to March 30.

In her post, the wife of the Turkish President pointed out her participation via a video message in an event at the United Nations on this occasion.

She added: “I congratulate all the environmental volunteers who are giving their time and effort to make our common home, the world, a more livable place on the occasion of World Zero Waste Day.”

She added: “I wish for a prosperous world in which resources are used optimally, waste is reduced to a minimum, and sustainability prevails.”

The video published by Mrs. Erdogan included excerpts from her video message to the United Nations event.

On the other hand, UN Secretary-General António Guterres praised First Lady Erdogan’s efforts on “zero waste” in a video message he sent to the event held at the UN headquarters in New York.

Guterres thanked Ms. Emine Erdogan for her “visionary leadership” on an important issue such as zero waste.

Turkey launched the Zero Waste Project in 2017, at the initiative of Emine Erdogan, with the aim of combating the impact of waste and waste on the environment, changing people’s consumption habits, and dealing with that waste by recycling it and making use of it after separating it according to its types at the source, with the aim of achieving a recycling rate of up to 60% in 2030.

In mid-December 2022, the United Nations approved the “Zero Waste” project resolution submitted by Turkey within the framework of plans for sustainable development and combating climate change.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously approved the resolution, which was mainly submitted by Turkey and jointly submitted by 105 countries.

With this resolution, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 30 as World Zero Waste Day.

American activist Shaun King and his wife announced their conversion to Islam on Monday, with the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in the Arab and Islamic worlds.

King and his wife appeared in a video clip he posted on Facebook reciting the Shahada taught to them by a Muslim imam, and he attached this to a post in which he talked about his conversion to Islam on Sunday evening, coinciding with the beginning of the month of fasting.

King said in his post: “My wife and I just returned home after the evening prayer at our mosque in the Dallas area, Texas, where we said the Shahada and converted to Islam to begin the month of Ramadan. It was a beautiful, powerful, and meaningful day for us that we will never forget.”

He added: “I will pray for you and ask you to continue to pray for us. We will begin fasting this morning with more than a billion Muslims around the world,” referring to the start of fasting on the first day of Ramadan.

Regarding what is happening in the Gaza Strip, King said: “My heart goes out to my dear friends in Gaza, and I am proud that we were able to provide meals tonight to thousands of families from northern to southern Gaza, and we will do so every day of the month of Ramadan.”

Shaun King is an American writer and activist and one of the prominent voices supporting the Palestinian cause on social media platforms.

Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, King has devoted his publications to sharing the atrocities committed by Israeli forces against the Palestinians in Gaza, and demanding an end to the war of extermination and the liberation of the Palestinian territories from occupation.

King announced late last December that the American “Meta” group had disabled his Instagram account because of his posts in support of the Palestinians.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, massive destruction of infrastructure, and a famine that has begun to afflict a number of areas, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.” Collective.”

For the second time within a month, McDonald’s reveals the extent to which its markets in the Middle East and beyond have been affected by the consequences of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The link between the Gaza war and the company dates back to last October 10, when the McDonald’s Israel page published pictures of the distribution of free meals to the Israeli army.

Despite repeated statements by the parent company’s management that it has no relationship with McDonald’s Israel’s move, the published photos prompted Arab and Islamic countries to announce a boycott of the restaurant chain.

On Monday, the company announced its failure to achieve a major sales target, due to customers boycotting it due to accusations against the chain regarding its support for Israel.

McDonald’s is one of many Western companies, including Starbucks and Coca-Cola, that have witnessed boycotts and protests against it by anti-Israel activists.

The company said the conflict between Israel and Gaza “significantly impacted performance in some foreign markets” in the fourth quarter of 2023.

In the branch that includes sales in the Middle East, China and India, sales growth reached 0.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023, which is much lower than market expectations of 5.5 percent.

In statements accompanying the company’s disclosure on the New York Stock Exchange, Chris Kempczinski, the company’s CEO, said: “As long as this war continues… we do not expect to see any significant improvement in these markets.”

On January 4, the CEO of McDonald’s wrote a post on LinkedIn in which he attributed the war on Gaza and misinformation as two main reasons for the decline in the restaurant’s sales in the Middle East and beyond.

He said at the time: “McDonald’s sales in the Middle East and some outside the region were greatly affected due to “misinformation” about the company’s position on the conflict between Israel and Hamas.”

He added: “This is frustrating and baseless. In every country we operate in, including Islamic countries, McDonald’s is proud to be represented by local owners who work tirelessly to serve and support their communities.”

Last November, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement urged people to reject McDonald’s because of its “open support” of the Israeli military.

Last week, Starbucks lowered its annual sales forecast, partly due to a decline in the number of customers visiting stores in the Middle East.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that fresh water is decreasing globally due to excessive consumption and pollution, warning of the consequences of this for Turkey and the entire world.

This came in a speech he delivered during his participation in the opening ceremony of 369 facilities completed by the Water Corporation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Erdogan explained that fresh and clean water resources are decreasing rapidly in the world due to excessive consumption and pollution, and that 97.5 percent of the water on Earth is salty water in the seas and oceans and is not suitable for agriculture and consumption.

Erdogan pointed out that currently only 10 percent of the total fresh water available on Earth is being utilized.

He continued, “The amount of water in lakes, reservoirs and rivers is a drop compared to the water in the seas. This is the main factor that makes water one of the most strategic and valuable resources.”

He added: “In many parts of the world, including our country, water is seen as an unlimited resource. I would like to point out here that this is a wrong perception. The first thing we must know about water and never forget is that water resources are not unlimited.”

He pointed out that the frequency and severity of disasters have increased around the world due to climate change, and that floods, storms, forest fires and droughts have become more common in recent years.

Erdogan stressed that the countries of the Mediterranean basin, including Turkey, are feeling the negative effects of climate change to a greater extent.

He pointed out that the ecosystem is deteriorating day after day, indicating that the main reason for this deterioration is the misuse of nature by humans.

Erdogan explained that the search for more comfort, the ambition to consume more, and the passion to exploit resources without limits cause negative damage to the environment.

He continued: “Through our “Zero Waste” project, which has become a milestone in the eyes of the United Nations, we are trying to find permanent solutions to the problem of plastic waste, which is the greatest enemy of soil and water.”

He pointed out that the way to ensure food security in Turkey lies in using water resources effectively, efficiently and without excess.

He continued: “We share our limited water resources with our neighbors such as Iraq and Syria in a fair manner, and it is known to everyone how balanced, responsible and sacrificial our country is in this issue.”

Regarding the projects that were opened today, Erdogan explained that the total cost of these facilities amounts to 53 billion Turkish liras (one dollar is equivalent to 28.98 liras).

He added that the completed projects include dams, irrigation canals, fresh water purification, and wastewater treatment.

President Erdogan indicated that the completed facilities will contribute 5 billion liras to the Turkish economy annually.
