On Sunday, the city of Istanbul hosted the 19th edition of the Half Marathon race, sponsored by the Turkish “Isbank”.

The race was organized in two categories, 21 km and 10 km, with the participation of 14,000 athletes from 72 countries.

68 athletes participated in the elite category race, including 47 male and 21 female competitors from 34 countries.

Moroccan runner Hicham Amghar won the elite race with a time of 59.46 minutes, followed by Ethiopian Dinkalem Ailey with 59.53 minutes, and then his compatriot Gemego Boti with 01.00.02 hours.

In the women’s category, Kenyan runner Shelia Gelangat won first place with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 46 seconds, followed by her compatriot with 01.07.11 hours, and then Ethiopian Zewdito Aderaw with 01.08.16 hours.

Turkey is preparing to host the World Walking Championships on April 21 in the southern province of Antalya.

According to a statement by the Turkish Athletics Federation on Saturday, Fatih Cintimar, president of the federation, chaired a meeting to prepare for hosting the championship.

Concerned officials participated in the meeting in various fields related to the tournament and discussed the ongoing preparations for its holding.

The tournament will be organized at a track on the Antalya Expo 2016 site.

It was decided in Bodrum that the fourth public beach will be built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on an area of approximately 3.5 dunams of public land located on Frank Azmaghi Street in the Yalikavak Gokcebel area.

The relevant location belonging to the treasury was also allocated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism by the National Real Estate Directorate.

On the initiative of Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çet, the structures located on the properties on the island 763 Parcel 6 were removed by the site administration under the supervision of the district governor.

In addition to the Bodrum Municipality, the National Real Estate Directorate and the District Police Department, the site was handed over to the officials of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat announced that his ministry is focusing more on artificial intelligence in trade and export.

The Çanakkale Bridge 1915, linking the continents of Asia and Europe over the Dardanelles Strait in Turkey, won the “Project of the Year” award presented by the “Engineering News Record” magazine based in the United States.

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Oraloglu said in a statement on Sunday that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge won the award as a result of the general evaluation carried out by the magazine’s jury this month.

He pointed out that the jury members evaluated according to criteria such as design and construction difficulties, benefits to local communities and industry, quality, innovation, and commitment to safety.

He noted that with this award, Al-Jisr will have won two awards from the prestigious magazine during the current year.

He explained that the bridge, which holds the title of the longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 2,023 meters, won first prize in the bridges and tunnels category in the magazine’s competition for “the best projects in the world” last October.

The Minister noted that the total number of prestigious local and international awards won by the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge reached 24 awards.

A ceremony to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the death of the Sufi Jalal al-Din Rumi, known as “Mawlana,” began Thursday in the central Turkish state of Konya, under the slogan “Time for Reconciliation.”

In his speech during the opening of the ceremony, Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu said, “The time has come to feel, live and share Mawlana’s messages of eternal love and unity more closely.”

He added: “The 750th anniversary of our Lord’s death gives us the opportunity to remember his teachings that saved our world from being a dark world under the influence of wars, conflicts and disputes, and brought light and peace to this day.”

He added: “Our Lord is a global thinker who contributed to spiritual wealth not only in our geography but in the entire world. His teachings laid the foundations of love, tolerance, unity and peace and addressed humanity in a universal language.”

Mawlana Jalal al-Din al-Rumi is one of the most important Sufis in Islamic history. He established a Sufi order known as Mawlawīyah, wrote many poems, established the Mathnawi doctrine in poetry, and wrote hundreds of thousands of verses of poetry about divine love and philosophy.

Al-Rumi was born in the city of Balkh in Khorasan on September 30, 1207, and was nicknamed the Sultan of the Knowing because of his breadth of knowledge and knowledge. He settled in the Turkish city of Konya until his death on December 17, 1273, after he traveled seeking knowledge in a number of cities, the most important of which was Damascus.

Jalal al-Din al-Rumi was a great example of tolerance, following the teachings of religion. On Monday, Turkish television begins showing its series “The Fatih Al-Qudus, Saladin Al-Ayyubi,” which the audience is eagerly anticipating.

Turkish paratrooper Viman Ogdon flew over the pyramids of Egypt carrying her country’s flag on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.

Ogdon parachuted from a height of 4,500 meters during the skydiving festival held above the Egyptian pyramids, one of the wonders of the world.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has included the Turkish archaeological city of Gordion on the “World Heritage” list.

The Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, announced through his account on the “X” platform on Monday that UNESCO had included the ancient city of Gordion, located in Ankara, on the World Heritage List.

He noted that thus the number of Turkish cultural assets on the World Heritage List increased to 20.

Ersoy also pointed out that Turkey is awaiting another good news from UNESCO regarding Anatolian mosques with wooden supports, stressing their intention to increase Turkish positions on the global list.

With the decision taken at the forty-fifth meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, the Gordion will be protected as a world heritage.

The archaeological city, in which the history of human settlement extends back to 2500 years BC, is located in the Polatli district of Ankara and continues in its vicinity to this day.

Gordion is considered one of the “rare areas in the world that witnessed the longest human settlement,” as settlement in the ancient city and its surroundings continued for about 4,500 years, with few interruptions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday congratulated his compatriot, archer Mete Gazoz, on winning the World Archery Championship in the classic bow competition.

Erdogan said in a post on his social media accounts: “By winning the gold medal in the World Shooting Championships, you made the whole of Turkey feel very proud.”

And he continued, “I congratulate from the bottom of my heart our son Mete Gazoz, who wrote an epic in the sport of our ancestors, archery.”

The head of the communication department in the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, also expressed his congratulations to Gazoz on winning the championship.
